How does it work?
|
As
some of you know, Jimi has his Portland based multi track studio, Roseleaf
Studios, complete with Pro Tools, Adats, tube preamps and many very cool mics. All you have to
do is send him your prerecorded song(s) via MP3 e-mail.
You
can send any, or preferably all, of these versions of each song:
1. One
version with the drums you used to
record the track, be it drum machine or drummer.
2. One
version without the drums but with the click track, if you used one.
3. One
version with no drums or click.
Then,
back at the studio he loads your song(s) into Pro Tools or onto adats, your
choice ( preferably Pro Tools) and plays along with your song(s) while multi
tracking the drum take. Then he ruff mixes the new drum track onto the version
you sent without drums, makes it into a MP3, and sends it back to you. Once
you are happy with what you hear, he burns the individual drum tracks as a WAVE, AIFF or SDII file and sends
them to you on a cd through the mail.
You assemble the new drum tracks with your song(s) and mix them in your own
home studio or studio of choice!
Alternately,
for an additional fee, you can send all the individual tracks for each
song(s) and Jimi will record and mix them for you!
DOESN’T
HAVE TO BE BLUES ... LETS ROCK!
This
is a point Jimi would like to make clear,
HE LIKES TO ROCK!
Though
the mainstay of his career has been Blues, Swing and R&B, don’t forget who
else he has played with: Marc
Ford, guitarist from the Black Crowes. Jimi and Marc had their band FEDERALE
that was a power house Neil Young/ Crazy Horse vibe. It also featured Luther
Russell ( The Free Wheelers) and Fred Trejillo ( Family Style).
Jimi
loves many of the 60’s and 70’s classic
rockers... The Faces, The Who, Hendrix, Janis, Skynard, The ABB etc...
The
point being, don’t be afraid if you might offend him or that he might not be
into your heavier stuff .
SINGER
SONGWRITERS ARE WELCOME TOO!
Roseleaf
studios is equipped with lots of percussion so bring on those sensitive
acoustic gems!
PRICE
$
Jimi’s
rates are very reasonable, as little as $100 a song (studio fees may apply) for something along the
lines of laying down one of his monster shuffles or killer swing grooves to
your song(s). The more complex the song of course the more it will cost but
it’s free to contact him, send an MP3, discuss what you want and go from there.
Here’s
your chance to jam with one of the very best drummers on the planet and have it
on record.
